Abstraktion als mentale Operation ist die Entdeckung von Struktur, Regelmäßigkeit, Mustern oder Ordnung innerhalb einer Vielzahl von Wahrnehmungen. Sie erlaubt eine Repräsentation, die Grundlage zur konzeptionellen Neustrukturierung ist.
