Die Ausprägungsvariation (AV) ist eine von drei Variationsarten im Modell der SGE – Systemgenerationsentwicklung, welche die Neuentwicklung von Funktionseinheiten unter Beibehaltung des Lösungsprinzips (gegenüber des entsprechenden Referenzsystemelementes) beschreibt. Die AV ist die häufigste Aktivität der Produktentwicklung und ist ebenfalls ein hochgradig kreativer und komplexer Vorgang.
Im Fall von Variationen auf Bauteilebene bspw. von Geometrie bzw. Gestalt wird die Ausprägungsvariation auch Gestaltvariation genannt.
Bei der Beschreibung von Fallbeispielen mit C&C²-A zeigt sich, dass durch AV die Anzahl der vorhandenen Wirkflächenpaare (WFP) und Strukturen nicht, jedoch deren individuelle Gestalt (z.B., aber nicht nur, Geometrie) und Anordnung ändern, ohne jedoch WFP oder Strukturen hinzuzufügen oder zu entfernen:

Die Menge derjenigen Teilsysteme einer neuen Produktgeneration, die durch AV neu entwickelt wurden, wird mit "AS" abgekürzt.

Attribute variation (AV) is in SGE the acitivity of developing individual functional units newly by maintaining the solution principle of reference products but redesigning or adjusting the embodiment. AV represents the most frequent activity of product development and a highly creative and complex process.
In the case of variations at component level, e.g. of geometry or shape, the attribute variation is also called embodiment variation.
In the analysis of exemplary systems in the course of case studies AV is reflected by structures and working surface pairs which persist in number and arrangement but change in embodiment, e.g., but not exclusively geometry:

Within a new product generation the set of subsystems which are developed newly by AV is denoted by "AS".
