Content

Students acquire fundamental competencies to systematically integrate sustainability aspects into engineering development processes. The course covers technical, economic, and social dimensions of sustainability, as well as key concepts of the circular economy. The content is structured into the following main topics:

  • Holistic definitions of sustainability
  • Methods of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
  • Approaches to Circular Economy (e.g. Cradle-to-Cradle)
  • Sustainability indicators and certifications (e.g. ESG)
  • Identification of optimization potentials in sustainable product development
