Field of Research

As part of my research, I am investigating the behavior of bolted connections in mechanical engineering that are designed with organic coatings (e.g., paints) in the force flow. The aim is to systematically identify and evaluate the influences of these coatings on the preload force behavior and the friction conditions in the interface. The focus is particularly on the interactions between the coating, the application temperature, and the mechanical load in order to better evaluate the operational safety of such connections and optimize them in a targeted manner.

Main Research Topics

  • Development of sensor-integrated machine elements (sensor screws)
  • Test and validation methods for evaluating the suitability of organic coatings in the force flow of bolted connections
