Work description

Comprehensive and reliable data on the operating condition of machines is required for comprehensive digitization and condition monitoring of machines during operation. In order to be able to collect high-quality and more meaningful sensor data, sensors with intelligent data evaluation must be placed in machines as close to the process as possible so that measurements can be taken directly at the sources of damage and a loss of quality in the signal paths is avoided.

Task:

On a self-developed sensor module, communication with the various sensors and a flash memory is to be implemented using modern programming concepts. Furthermore, the freshly measured data is to be transferred to an evaluation unit by cable or wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

The challenges here are to implement high sampling rates for the sensors and to ensure a sufficiently high data throughput and stability as well as robustness for ongoing operation in harsh environments. For this purpose, tests can be performed on a shaker test bench.

In addition, implementation of data preprocessing algorithms on the microcontroller can be addressed. The sensor module can be tested experimentally on a test bench at IPEK.

Profile:

  • Interest in programming of microcontrollers in C/C++ (at best already basic experience)
  • Interest in implementing the latest MEMS sensor and wireless transmission technologies
  • Independent way of working
