Description

At the Chair of Power Tools and Machine Elements, we focus our research on the area of data-driven product development. The goal of our research and development activities is to support the design and testing of mechatronic systems through application-oriented methods and solutions. Close to practice, we work with partners from industry on solutions for concrete problems and drive innovations. For implementation, we use both simulative and experimental approaches. In doing so, we make use of IPEK's first-class equipment with numerous test benches, modern measurement technology and simulation tools.
In your research, you contribute to sustainability and individualization in mechanical engineering. Reproducible and realistic tests with innovative test benches allow you to evaluate system reliability at an early stage and thus save resources. Here, the focus of your scientific work is on researching a methodical approach for the design and construction of hydraulic damping elements for shock excitations at high excitation frequencies and high shock power with an adjustable damping behavior. This is to be implemented and validated exemplarily for the shock excitation of a hammer drill. Your focus will be on the design and construction of the test rig setup and the system identification.
Your tasks
- Elaboration of testing methods in connection with a test rig for hammer drills
- Set-up, execution and evaluation of experimental studies
- Research and development activities in close cooperation with companies
- Support of the teaching activities of the institute
- Publication and presentation of scientific results at national and international conferences
What you bring with you
You have an above-average university or technical college degree (Dipl.-Ing. or Master) in an engineering course in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or information technology. You have a profound knowledge of the English and German language, both written and spoken, and are characterized by your ability to work in a team as well as by an independent, systematic and committed way of working. In addition, you have a good capacity for abstraction, a high willingness to learn beyond the limits of your technical education. Previous knowledge in the field of metrology, mechatronics and in development and validation methods is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
What we offer you
We offer you an attractive and modern workplace and access to the excellent equipment of KIT, a diversified and responsible job as well as a wide range of training opportunities, a supplementary pension according to VBL, flexible working time models, a subsidy for the JobTicket (BW), and a casino/cafeteria.
Application
We aim to fill as many positions as possible with employees (m/f/d) and would therefore be particularly pleased to receive applications from women. If suitable, severely disabled persons will be given preferential consideration.
Please send your application by e-mail to Mr. Felix Leitenberger(felix.leitenberger∂kit.edu), who will be happy to provide technical information (Tel. 0721/608-41871).
