Transfer to Agile with ASD - Agile Systems Design

Agile approaches in the right application combined with the thinking, methods and processes of PGE - Product Generation Development make a significant contribution to the low-waste and customer-oriented product development process.

Market uncertainties, latent customer requirements and complexity due to technological progress are not new challenges for companies in the field of mechatronic system development. Manufacturing companies, too, are driven by the continuously growing dynamics of modern markets to look for new process developments. Agile approaches, which originated in the development of physical systems but have only been triumphant since their successful application in the field of software development, were quickly identified as salutary alternatives to the classic stage-gate process. A sufficient number of Scrum-boards are quickly procured, some employees are equipped with a Scrum-master-certification and the first really agile projects get underway.

Half a year later the Scrum-boards serve as room dividers and the Scrum masters are trapped in the familiar structures of the stage-gate process. Agile? - did not work for us. This is a common opinion in the field of physical product development.

At this point at the latest, we provide support as an experienced partner in the field of agile mechatronic system development. We follow the conviction that agile approaches have their strengths, but must be combined systematically and in a healthy way with the strengths of the classical, plan-driven world. Our idea: We support your organization individually with methods to achieve the right level of agility for you to make projects in the area of product development successful, effective and efficient. The fundamental basis for this is our way of thinking of ASD - Agile Systems Design.

In our project format "Transfer to Agile" we identify together with you the status quo of the affected organizational unit regarding its potential for agile working. From this we derive an ideal target picture together, which includes a suitable level of agile procedures and mechanisms for you. In the next step, we identify the relevant fields of action, which we will systematically adapt with regard to the targeted and appropriate transformation. The nine basic principles of ASD - Agile Systems Design serve as a basis for this. These will enable you to implement a level of agility in your development processes that is appropriate to the situation and your needs. Using the appropriate elements of the KaSPro - Karlsruhe School of Product Development, we will work with you to develop an individual process solution which addresses the identified fields of action and operationalises the appropriate ASD basic principles.

We will also develop a concept for continuous validation of the suitability and applicability of the developed process solution as well as the company-specific derivation of measurable success factors of the transfer according to your needs. The concept is rounded off with individual training documents, which enable you to convey internal competence regarding the transfer.
