The design of future products is becoming increasingly important in today's world due to shorter life cycles and volatile market environments. Especially the validation of these products is becoming more and more challenging, as rapid and agile product development means that product validation is either outdated or can only be performed with high uncertainty. In order to avoid unnecessary validations, robust validation needs must be identified, for example, in each future, each generation and each variant. These robust validation needs can be used to derive requirements for hybrid prototypes.

Goal & Task:

The goal of your work is to identify, model, and evaluate an assessment of the robustness of validation needs. Your first task will be to identify criteria through an analysis of existing approaches and then model an initial evaluation scheme. You will methodically support student teams in evaluating validation needs in terms of robustness and derive requirements for their prototypes. Finally, you will evaluate with the teams if the evaluation scheme and requirements supported the prototype building and what improvements should be implemented.

Profile:

  • You are studying in the field of engineering, economics or mechatronics.

  • You want to make product development more robust and develop product validation in particular

  • You are fascinated by the construction of virtual, hybrid or physical prototypes.

  • You are motivated and have the initiative to contribute your own ideas and impulses in the development of knowledge and are not afraid to break new ground.
