Innovation, Product, and Development Management: Systematic Literature Review for Building an Integrated Conceptual Understanding

What We Want to Achieve:

The disciplines of Innovation Management, Product Management, and Development Management form key pillars of modern business leadership. In practice, their areas of responsibility often overlap, while in academic literature, differing conceptual understandings and perspectives prevail. This leads to inconsistencies in communication, teaching, and implementation. The aim of this project is to develop an integrated, coherent conceptual understanding through a systematic literature review.

Your Task:

The goal of this work is to identify relevant terms and concepts from the three disciplines within the framework of a systematic literature review, to highlight existing overlaps and differences, and to develop an integrated conceptual understanding based on these findings. The following steps are planned for this purpose:

• Familiarization with the fundamentals of the disciplines of Innovation Management, Product Management, and Development Management
• Systematic literature research and analysis of terms, definitions, and delineations of the three disciplines
• Analysis and categorization of overlaps, differences, and interfaces
• Development of an integrated conceptual model to represent a coherent understanding
• Reflection on the results with regard to their relevance for practice, science, and teaching
